Stefan K. Kolev earned both his M.S. in organic chemistry, graduating summa cum laude in 2007, and his Ph.D. in computational chemistry in 2014 from St. Clement of Ohrid University of Sofia, Bulgaria, for his research in the area of quantum chemistry of biomolecules. From 2013 to 2016, he worked as a chemical technologist at Bioinnovative Ltd., Varna, Bulgaria. Dr. Kolev is currently an Associate Professor at the Institute of Electronics, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia and a co-owner of Surt Technologies Ltd., Sofia. His current research is focused on quantum physical properties of graphene, other carbon-based compounds, and silicon, for developing of novel electrical sensors and devices. He has published research articles in world-renowned journals such as the Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters, Journal of Physical Chemistry A, and ACS Chemical Biology.
